Mighty Megaton on the rise

“ The Mighty Megaton”, no ordinary name for a deejay, this artist is as humble as it gets . Megaton began his life in Glengoffe , St. Catherine . He is the 13th of 23 children . In the early eighty’s he moved to Kingston where he attended Tarrant Secondary School and specialized in the field of carpentry. Upon leaving secondary school, he sought employment with modern furnishing where he worked for a number of years. He would however, later soar to higher heights by opening his own establishment in Portmore , St. Catherine.

He began music by listening to older acts at the time , namely , his two idols Shabba Ranks and Mamma Nancy . He believes that his intense love for music is innate , thus a part of his every being . Mighty Megaton first started out in the business as a promoter , managing artistes such as Penny Irie , Color Dan and Little Robert . This role however, was not fulfilling for a man who lives and breathes the industry. Therefore, in the early nineties he recorded and compiled his first album , but never managed to release it.

Ten years later, Mighty Megaton found out that the music still had roots where he’s living in Connecticut and that the distance away from home did not diminish his love for the craft. Thus with a renewed sense of consciousness and positivity, he began the undaunting task of launching his new album ‘Goods Deeds’, a compilation of conscious thoughts and provocative lyrics. Featuring songs such as; Good Deeds, Sex in the City, Joy, My lord and Mama to name a few.

With his philosophy of positive vibes Mighty Megaton aims to be a solid member of the reggae fraternity and establish himself as a positive role model to all aspiring reggae lovers. He also hopes to bridge the division that is within the industry and set the platform for and be the medium through which positivity can be portrayed.

The new year awaits the release of this much anticipated album. His message to all “the will of strong mind will move all mountains.” Peace.
